Why Self Care, Why Now?

You don't have to be a super-sensitive person to feel all the changes that are happening right now in our world, particularly in the U.S. Many of us are at a crossroads in our careers, living situations, family lives, and relationships. All of this uncertainty can be pretty overwhelming, and by way of coping, it can be tempting to close off from the world and remain in our comfort zones, particularly if you're an introvert like me.

One of the ways to navigate this overwhelm is through self-care and community. I typically hesitate to use the phrase "self-care". Some people read it as "self-indulgent" or "selfish”, yet it is an absolute necessity for us right now. I want to have more dialog around taking care of ourselves and helping others, if you would like to discuss please reach out to me.

Self-care to me looks like eating more whole, fresh, home-cooked food, getting regular massages, moving my body, whether it be it walking or practicing yoga, daily meditation time in reflection, reading fiction and non-fiction, time with my fur babies, reiki, and of course, crystal healing. I would love to hear what self-care looks like for you. Please share in the comments below and let's start this dialog on how we can better take care of ourselves and lift our friends, family and neighbors.

You'll be hearing more from me on community and being an introvert in future posts. Until then, please try to give some thought on how you can better take care of yourself and be able to serve others from a full well.

Much love,

Leslie
